Brush your teeth!

First of all, I know it has been a while, but it has been a busy time. Work has been hectic and Misty and Noah take precedence over writing, so I have been slacking. That being said, on to the post.

I was traveling for business earlier this week. I was finishing up packing my things in the morning and, at the same time, rushing around getting Noah ready to go do daycare.

That particular morning, he was in one of his questioning moods. Everything I did or I asked him to do was followed by an ongoing litany of questions. It culminated in quite a long line of questioning regarding getting his teeth brushed. Here is the gist of the conversation.

"Noah, It is time to brush your teeth."
"Why?"
"Because you need to."
"Why?"
"So you can get your teeth clean."
"Why?"
"So your breath doesn't stink and your teeth won't fall out."
"Oh. OK."
"Put the toothpaste on your toothbrush"
"Why?"
"Because I said so... And don't eat the toothpaste."
"Why?"

So you get the picture. It kept going for a while, but I did get him started on brushing his teeth. I thought we were out of the woods, but then he decided to keep brushing his teeth. And keep brushing his teeth. So, we started another line of conversation.

"OK. Your teeth are clean. Its time to put up your toothbrush."
"I can't."
"Why?"
"Because I need to! Daddy... Brush your teeth!"

Hmm... reverse logic. He is getting to be too smart. If you can't beat them, join them. I brushed my teeth and then started to finish getting my things together for my trip. Noah was looking around in my bag and asked what I was doing and where I was going. I explained that I was going on a trip and that I would be back the next day. He got this look on his face, pointed at me and said, "Daddy! Remember to brush your teeth." I chuckled. Great advice.

He kept playing around my bag until I was done and then I took him to daycare. As I was leaving, he once again reminded me to brush my teeth.

Later on, when I was getting ready to brush my teeth, I opened my bag and found that he had put his toothbrush in with mine. I don't know if it was an attempt to get out of brushing his teeth or to make sure that I had brushed mine. Either way, he would have been happy... I remembered to brush my teeth.
